Tijuana Police Detain Woman in Connection with Infant's Death

The Tijuana Municipal Police detained a woman identified as Danna Paola “N” following the death of a one-year-old child, allegedly as a result of physical abuse, reported the Municipal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM).

According to the agency, agents assigned to the Violet Squad attended the General Hospital on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 23, after a report was filed regarding the admission of an infant showing “obvious signs of physical violence.” Upon arriving at the scene, officers detected indications suggesting that the minor may have been a victim of previous assaults.

The SSPCM stated that the Violet Squad, a specialized unit for addressing gender-based and family violence cases, handled the emergency and, based on initial inquiries, proceeded to detain the woman.

“[This] led to the arrest of Danna Paola ‘N’,” the corporation stated, specifying that the woman was placed at the disposal of the corresponding authorities.

Finally, the Secretariat called on citizens to report any case of domestic violence or physical abuse through the emergency line 9-1-1, as well as through the “Purple Button” and “Emergency Button” applications.
