Sometimes, it is common to take trips to picturesque places with family and friends, such as parks, mountains, or magical towns, and capture those moments in photographs. Natural light, nature's colors, and reflections can help achieve memorable landscape portraits to frame at home or share on social media.
A camera or a good smartphone are useful tools for capturing quality images, but it is essential to have knowledge about how to use them correctly. In this context, Publimetro Mexico accompanied teachers and students from the Canon Academy on an experience at Nevado de Toluca, where the fundamentals for achieving outstanding landscape portraits were shared.
On that trip, Canon Academy professor Xabier Santakiteria, a landscape photography specialist with over 15 years of experience, emphasized the importance of properly adjusting values such as shutter speed, ISO, and aperture to achieve the desired image using an appropriate composition.
"With a basic camera, good landscape photos can be achieved. Landscape photography always communicates a message and can reflect your mood," the professor stated. Additionally, he shared some basic tips such as avoiding blurred backgrounds, utilizing details to improve composition, and playing with natural light by adjusting parameters like ISO.
Moreover, it was recommended not to obsess over photographic equipment and to take advantage of a smartphone's capabilities if a professional camera is unavailable, using features such as zoom, brightness measurement, and the rule of thirds.
Regarding personal care during these photographic outings, it was advised to stay hydrated, carry light snacks, dress comfortably, wear appropriate footwear, and avoid dangerous areas. In technical terms, it was suggested to use closed apertures with a tripod and low ISO for long exposures in natural environments.
