Mexico City, Dec 15. — The crash of a small plane near the Toluca International Airport (AIT) in the State of Mexico left a provisional toll of at least six dead, state Civil Protection reported on Monday. In a social media post, Civil Protection notified the "preliminary" death toll of six in the accident suffered by a private jet with registration XA-PRO. The plane departed from Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero, heading for the city of Toluca, where the fatal accident occurred, 65 kilometers from the Mexican capital. Authorities have not confirmed the identities of the victims, but reported that of the people on board, eight were passengers and the other two were the crew. For now, the causes of the plane's fall are unknown, which caused a fire that is now under control by state emergency services, focused on cooling and removal operations. Firefighters, as well as personnel from the State of Mexico Emergency Service (SUEM), municipal security agents, or National Guard personnel are participating in the operation. Despite the fire being under control, authorities have urged the population not to approach the area and to stay informed through official channels.
