Sheinbaum confirms ten deaths in plane crash near Toluca

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, confirmed on Tuesday that all ten occupants of a private jet that crashed near Toluca International Airport (AIT) in the central State of Mexico died in the accident, and called for waiting for the expertise of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to clarify the causes.

In her daily conference at the National Palace, Sheinbaum stated that the expertise must be carried out before it is possible to identify the cause of the aircraft's collapse; although she admitted it could have been a technical failure.

"Everyone died, including the pilot (...) The Attorney General's Office has to do it (the expertise)", said Sheinbaum, who detailed that it was a family traveling from Acapulco to Toluca, including three minors.

The head of state's update comes after the report released on Monday by the State of Mexico Civil Protection, which informed that the number of fatalities had increased to seven after local emergency services located bodies at the impact site.

At that time, the authorities specified that the plane was carrying eight passengers, in addition to the pilot and co-pilot, for a total of ten people.
