The First Artisan Fair of the State of Mexico, "Magical Hands", will take place in the Plaza de los Mártires in Toluca from November 15 to 18. This event, supported by the Government of the State of Mexico, will bring together more than 100 artisan masters from 35 municipalities in Mexico who will showcase a diverse range of artisanal products.
The fair will feature a wide variety of items, from the iconic life trees of Metepec and Mazahua jewelry to textiles such as shawls and quexquemitls, as well as Christmas decorations like nativity scenes and piñatas. Additionally, free workshops will be offered by prominent artisans, including pottery and ceramics by Octavio Páramo Vargas, and bone and horn turning with Ángel López Carbajal.
In addition to the exhibitions and workshops, there will be daily cultural presentations including marimba, folk ballet, and live music. The Secretary General of Government, Horacio Duarte, also announced during the inauguration of the fair a project to create a digital marketing channel that will allow artisans to showcase and sell their products online, with the aim of promoting artisan trade and ensuring their economic viability.
Governor Delfina Gómez supports this initiative, which seeks to celebrate Mexiquense traditions while also fostering a technological change that will benefit hundreds of families. Horacio Duarte emphasized the importance of bringing the artisans' creations to the digital world to ensure their visibility and position their products in the market.
