The Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) announced that Candelario "N", known as "El Gelatinas", was linked to the process for his alleged participation in the qualified homicide of a prominent chicken and egg trader in the region. FGJEM reported that the judicial authority ordered justified preventive detention and established a three-month period for complementary investigation.
The events attributed to Candelario "N" took place on July 24 in San Mateo Oxtotitlán, Toluca municipality. According to the Attorney General's investigation, "El Gelatinas" waited for the victim aboard a motorcycle with his minor son, who was carrying a black backpack. Two more accomplices, in a vehicle, acted as lookouts. When they identified the trader, Candelario "N" approached and shot him repeatedly with a firearm taken from his son's backpack, causing his death.
Surveillance cameras, both public and private, captured the actions of "El Gelatinas" before the media disseminated the recordings. After obtaining an arrest warrant, Candelario "N" was detained by Investigative Police agents in collaboration with elements of the State of Mexico's Secretariat of Security and the Municipal Public Security Directorate of Toluca.
The accused was held in the Santiaguito Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center in Almoloya de Juárez, where he will remain until a sentence is issued. FGJEM reminded that "the accused will be considered innocent until a sentence is issued against him" and urged the citizenry to inform if they recognize Candelario "N" as a suspected implicated in other crimes.
