Gilberto E.T., alias "El Curro", identified by authorities as one of the main operators of hydrocarbon theft and retail drug sales in the Tula, Hidalgo region, was found dead inside a vehicle. Information from the Hidalgo Public Security Secretariat (SSPH) indicates that the discovery occurred following a 911 report. The incident took place on the state road Michimaloya-Xijay in Cuauhtémoc, Tula, when the victim was driving a private vehicle and was intercepted by armed individuals. Elements of the Secretariat arrived at the scene and confirmed the discovery of a dead man. Likewise, the SSPH stated that it maintains coordination with the three levels of government and a security operation in the municipality to restore "security and tranquility". The Attorney General's Office of the State of Hidalgo (PGJEH) confirmed that it has initiated an investigation file related to the homicide. "El Curro", according to authorities, is pointed out as one of the priority targets for the municipality of Tula due to his presumed involvement in drug distribution and fuel theft, known as "huachicol". According to official reports, Gilberto "N" was a criminal leader serving Hugo Muñoz, alias "El H", who was arrested last March for his participation in the illegal extraction of hydrocarbons, drug sales, and intentional homicides. After the arrest of "El H", it was reported that "El Curro" sought to lead the criminal cell, which led to a series of internal clashes, generating a wave of violence in the region. Local media reports indicate that "El Curro" sought to ally with criminal groups from Guanajuato and Jalisco to create his own organization and combat the criminal group of "El H".
