Korn Ferry Tour Returns to PGA Riviera Maya in Tulum in 2026

PGA Riviera Maya in Tulum has been awarded as the Best Golf Course in Mexico for 2024 and 2025 by the World Golf Awards. The organization of the Tulum Championship is part of a strategy to strengthen the destination's positioning in the international sports arena. Gonzalo Pan de Soraluce, Global Director of Golf Strategy, stated that hosting the tournament for a second consecutive year reinforces Mexico's role as a strategic hub and a breeding ground for new generations. The sporting event will take place from April 16 to 19, 2026, at the PGA Riviera Maya facilities, located within the Tulum Country Club residential community. The consolidation of Tulum as a host for events of this magnitude is supported by its hospitality infrastructure, gastronomy, and comprehensive services, which allow it to once again welcome the Korn Ferry Tour delegation and golf fans from around the world.

"This reinforces Mexico's role as a strategic hub and a breeding ground for new generations," said Gonzalo Pan de Soraluce.

The tournament will feature a prize fund of one million dollars and 500 points for the circuit ranking, with the confirmation of standout players such as Mexican Álvaro Ortiz and Colombian Camilo Villegas, recognized as the first golfer from his country to win on the PGA Tour.

The course, designed by architect Robert Trent Jones II, is distinguished by its integration with the natural environment of jungle, mangroves, and cenotes. Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin expressed her enthusiasm about returning to Mexican territory for the second edition of this tournament. She highlighted the preparatory work done by PGA Riviera Maya and the Piñero group, underlining that the course represented one of the most demanding challenges of the tour in the past season.

"The design demands precision and strategy from the competitors," said PGA Riviera Maya Director of Golf Andrés Brictson.

This international competition is established as the only stop of the tour in the country, bringing together emerging talents in men's professional golf. According to the organizers, this effort is being carried out in collaboration with the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council.
