New High-Tech Cable to Strengthen US-Mexico Relations

The new Manta submarine cable will connect Veracruz, Mexico to Florida and aims to enhance data transmission and artificial intelligence initiatives between the US and Mexico.

New High-Tech Cable to Strengthen US-Mexico Relations

In the midst of a period of tensions in the relationship between the governments of Mexico and the United States, a project emerges that seeks to explore generative artificial intelligence. Four out of five business leaders admit to having some project of this type underway. In light of this perspective, both companies and governments must prepare for a future in which artificial intelligence will be essential, more than a distant prospect, an inevitable reality.

Within this context, the American company Liberty Networks has announced a new project called Manta, a submarine fiber optic cable that will join others connected in the Yucatán Peninsula and Central America. This cable, costing about 250 million dollars, represents a commitment to strengthen trade relations with the United States and provide a new generation of connections.

The Manta cable, which will connect the Gulf of Mexico to Florida, is expected to be operational by 2027, allowing for fast and efficient data transfer. This infrastructure will not only benefit companies but will also integrate with the new technological projects of the Mexican government. According to Paul D. Roberts, an exponential technology specialist, we are entering an era of technological disruption that requires proper preparation.

Liberty Networks' ambitious project responds to the growing demand for data capacity to support the development of artificial intelligence. With the exponential growth of AI usage, it is expected that by 2030, 70% of the capacity of data centers worldwide will be dedicated to this technology. This step is fundamental to staying at the forefront in the era of AI and quantum computing, a goal shared by companies like OpenAI.

In this context, Mexico becomes a strategic point for the installation of advanced technological infrastructures, attracting investments from major companies such as Microsoft, Google, and AWS (Amazon Web Services). The collaboration between these companies in creating data centers in the country and the future operation of the Manta cable are significant steps toward a digital and technological future increasingly present in our lives.
