This event came after the artist was forced to cancel concerts due to a leg illness, as she explained in a video posted online.

Although many might associate the song with failed romances, the reality is that it was inspired by a famous politician of the nineties, Carlos Salinas de Gortari, as revealed by its author, Manuel Eduardo Toscano, in an interview in 2019.
"We had in Mexico a president whom no one dared to disrespect at that time, but as a songwriter one would say, 'well, I'm going to make this song'," Toscano commented.
