The movie "Emilia Pérez", directed by Jacques Audiard, has generated controversy in Mexico due to the supposed 'satisfaction guarantee' offered by Cinépolis. After its release, several customers expressed their dissatisfaction with the movie and requested to enforce the 'Cinépolis Guarantee'. Some consumers reported that they were unable to enforce this guarantee, which led to complaints and criticism on social media.
The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) reported that it is in discussions with Cinépolis to clarify the terms and conditions of this guarantee, in accordance with the Federal Consumer Protection Law. Profeco reminded that advertising with phrases like "guaranteed" or "guarantee" must be truthful, verifiable, and not mislead, confuse, or deceive, specifying what they consist of and how consumers can enforce them.
In light of this situation, users on social media have requested refunds after watching the movie 'Emilia Pérez'. Information circulated that with the 'Cinépolis Guarantee' it was possible to request a refund once half an hour had passed since the start of the screening. The company is cooperating with Profeco to clarify the terms of the guarantee and ensure consumers' rights.
