David "N", a 41-year-old mason, was captured after 24 years on the run for the murder of a young man in Xochitepec, Morelos. The crime occurred on Christmas Eve when David and his friends, under the influence of alcohol, demanded money from the victim to buy drinks. After receiving an insufficient amount, they began to beat him and chased him to a bull pen where they killed him.
According to investigations, David is said to have led the attack, but managed to evade justice for years until he returned to his hometown, Alpuyeca, where he was arrested by elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency. He currently faces charges of homicide, a crime that in the Penal Code of Morelos carries a penalty of 20 to 40 years in prison and fines ranging from one to ten thousand UMA.
In the case of aggravated homicide, with aggravating factors such as premeditation, the sanction can reach 25 to 70 years in prison and fines from 113 thousand pesos to two million 263 thousand pesos. David's capture ends a long evasion of justice following a crime motivated by alcohol-fueled ambition and excessive violence.
