This weekend, forest fires have begun to occur in Jalisco. The first one, although it has already been 80% controlled, caused an intense mobilization of emergency units that lasted more than 24 hours to extinguish the flames. This fire took place on the Cerro del Tajo, near the Protected Natural Area of the La Primavera Forest, leaving no casualties but affecting 170 hectares of vegetation.
The second fire was recorded in the Puerta de Guadalupe area in the La Primavera Forest, activating the atmospheric alert in Zapopan, Tala, and El Arenal. Although the causes of the flames have not yet been determined, emergency units continue to work to extinguish the fire and prevent its spread.
Last week, the Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, announced the start of the "Dry Season Plan 2025" with the aim of combating forest fires that may arise during the dry season due to the high temperatures forecasted. As part of this plan, at least six helicopters from the State and its metropolitan municipalities will be available. Two of these helicopters, Tlaloc and Witari, are already being utilized to combat the fires in the La Primavera Forest this Sunday.
