Zapopan Launches Major Renovation Project

The municipal governor of Zapopan, Juan José Frangie, announced the start of the "Master Plan for the Renovation of the Historic Center" of the city. This project is expected to be carried out in three phases, each with an investment of 100 million pesos, totaling 300 million pesos.

In the first phase, the restoration of Plaza de las Américas, the walkways Cristina Peña and Galeana, as well as the parks La Culebrita and Galeana, along with other public spaces under the "Heart of the Neighborhood" project, is contemplated. Intelligent crossings with pedestrian presence sensors, illuminated signage, and improvements in the lighting of iconic buildings and public spaces will also be implemented.

The goal of this renovation is to preserve the traditions and customs of Zapopan while reflecting the evolution and modernization of the city. With an eye towards international events in 2026, such as the FIFA World Cup, efforts aim to beautify the Historic Center and ensure that visitors leave with a positive impression.

Frangie assured that during the remodeling works, streets will not be closed to avoid affecting residents. It is guaranteed that there will be no road closures or pedestrianization that harms citizens. The intention is to execute the improvements in an orderly fashion without causing inconvenience to the population.
