The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SPPC) of Mexico, Omar García Harfuch, reported this Friday on the arrest in the state of Jalisco of Armando 'N', alias 'Delta 1', alleged leader of an armed group linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). In a press release, the SPPC detailed that security agents tracked down and arrested 'Delta 1' in Jalisco, whom they identified as the leader of a criminal cell dedicated to committing homicides, extortions, and drug trafficking. The arrested individual is the leader of the criminal group 'Los Deltas', the armed wing of the CJNG, according to several local media reports. Additionally, the authorities accuse him of being responsible for the expansion of a criminal group in the state of Michoacán, where there is a strong confrontation between the Community Police of the municipalities of Aquila and Coahuayana with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel for control of drug trafficking routes. The criminal leader, who has been arrested on several occasions, was arrested in the municipality of Zapopan for alleged crimes against health for the possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride for commercial purposes. According to Harfuch, the cell he led was dedicated to trafficking synthetic drugs to the United States, among other criminal activities. According to criminal maps prepared by the authorities, at least twelve criminal organizations operate in western Mexico. These criminal groups call themselves the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Tepalcatepec Cartel, Los Blancos de Troya, Los Viagras, Los Reyes Cartel, Los Caballeros Templarios, Acahuato Cartel, Costa Cartel, La Familia Michoacana, Zicuirán Cartel, Pueblos Unidos, and Los Correa Cartel. In another parallel operation, security agents dismantled a clandestine laboratory in the state of Durango used for the manufacture of synthetic drugs, while seizing four reactors, 12 distillers, various pots and drums, 250 bales of caustic soda, gallons of toluene, and chemical substances, as well as various work tools and machinery. These operations involved organizations such as the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and the National Guard (GN).
