In November of last year, the construction sector in Nuevo León experienced a marked recovery, reaching a record level in the value of its production. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), the value of production from works in the entity amounted to six thousand 421 million pesos, the highest since January 2006.
This remarkable performance represented an increase of 7.21% compared to October and 8.56% compared to November 2023. Roberto Macías Quintanilla, president of the Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry (CMIC) in Nuevo León, attributed this improvement to increased momentum in public works, which had been affected during the electoral period.
According to Macías, the pace of work slowed during the electoral period, but in November, the work done by various municipalities and the oversight of state projects boosted the sector. He emphasized that construction is not subject to seasonal cycles, as its investment depends on the continuity of projects in development.
Nuevo León remained a national leader in the sector, contributing 11.85% of the total, followed by Mexico City and Jalisco. During November, the boost in construction was primarily due to projects executed by the public sector, with considerable growth compared to previous months.
Regarding construction segments, building continued to be the most important, followed by transportation and urbanization. Despite the suspension of Line 5 of the Metro, work on other lines significantly contributed to the development of the sector in Nuevo León.
