Conavi to Support 100,000 Families in Mexico

The National Housing Commission (Conavi) will implement a program to distribute 100,000 supports to vulnerable families in the State of Mexico, with the aim of enabling them to build or improve their homes. The head of Conavi indicated that these projects will focus on urban areas with basic services, ensuring compliance with habitability and safety standards.

The beneficiary selection process will consist of eight steps, ranging from the identification of intervention areas to the validation and final allocation of resources. A total of 50,315 housing actions will be carried out on 62 sites located in 30 states of the country, starting in February with projects in 18 entities.

The director of Conavi, Rodrigo Chávez, mentioned that 50,000 families are ready to receive their cards in January and February in the eastern part of the State of Mexico. Although most beneficiaries are currently located in that state, the program will also include housing actions in other parts of the country.

Priority will be given to women heads of households, single mothers, young people who study and work, indigenous populations, the elderly, and people with disabilities, as well as families with incomes below two minimum wages and without access to Infonavit or FOVISSSTE credits. To ensure the proper use of resources and meet established goals, Citizen Oversight Committees will be created at each site, which will be made up of local authorities and community representatives.
