Welfare Pension: Expectations of Duplicate Payments

The first payment of the Welfare Pension in 2025 has already been made, but beneficiaries are questioning a possible double payment due to the electoral ban.

Welfare Pension: Expectations of Duplicate Payments

The first payment of the Pension for the Well-Being of Older Adults for 2025 was made at the beginning of the year, amounting to 6,200 pesos bimonthly corresponding to January and February. Now, beneficiaries are waiting for the next deposit, corresponding to the March-April bimonthly period. Some are wondering if this period will include a double payment due to the proximity of the electoral ban.

Last year, in 2024, the Ministry of Welfare advanced payments for several social programs, including the pension for older adults, due to the electoral ban ahead of the presidential elections. This resulted in beneficiaries receiving two bimonthly payments in a single deposit.

In 2025, the context is similar, as the National Electoral Institute (INE) has scheduled elections for June 1, where the Judicial Branch of the Federation will be elected. This situation has raised questions about whether the payment for the May-June bimonthly period of this year will also be advanced, which would mean beneficiaries would receive a total of 12,400 pesos.

So far, the Ministry of Welfare has not issued any official statement announcing an advance in payments for 2025. Everything indicates that deposits will be made regularly, respecting the planned bimonthly payment schedule; this would mean that older adults will receive 6,200 pesos for each bimonthly period, without an advance due to the electoral ban.

In the absence of an official announcement about a possible change in the scheduling of payments, beneficiaries should remain attentive to any information that the Ministry of Welfare may provide in the coming weeks. The program is expected to continue normally, providing consistent financial support to older adults in Mexico.

In 2025, the Pension for Older Adults consists of 6,200 pesos bimonthly and is granted universally to all persons aged 65 and over, directly and without intermediaries.
