More than 70 companies have committed to providing employment to thousands of nationals deported by the United States government. The initiative arose after a meeting between entrepreneurs and the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez.
The Director of Corporate Affairs at Femsa, Roberto Campa, who leads the project on behalf of the entrepreneurs, highlighted the importance of leveraging the experience of repatriates in various sectors such as industry, manufacturing, and agriculture. He pointed out that if just one in every 20 establishments hired one person, at least 50,000 individuals could be incorporated, which equals a quarter of all repatriations made in 2024.
Campa also announced that starting from February 10, there will be weekly updates on the number of specific jobs created within the plan. For her part, the Secretary of the Interior thanked Mexican entrepreneurs for their solidarity and generosity in offering jobs to repatriates as part of the 'Mexico embraces you' strategy. Rodríguez praised the willingness of companies to welcome citizens with decent jobs and assured federal government support for this initiative.
In the meeting, which included large companies from various sectors such as Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Bayer, Bimbo, and Cemex, among others, the importance of migrants having proper documentation to access the available jobs was emphasized. The collaboration between the private sector and the government is a fundamental part of the 'Mexico embraces you' strategy, which seeks to involve companies, civil and religious organizations in the integration of repatriates into the workforce in Mexico.
In addition to the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), other organizations present at the meeting included the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin), the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur), and the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), among others. The commitment of companies to offer job opportunities to repatriates reflects a supportive and positive response to current immigration policies.
