The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, highlighted the effectiveness of the strategy of "firmness" and "cold blood" implemented in response to the statements of U.S. President Donald Trump. During his intervention at the 85th Annual General Assembly of the American Society Of Mexico, Ebrard mentioned that the policy proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum is yielding concrete results, which has been acknowledged by Trump's spokesperson.
At the meeting, Ebrard also stated that Mexico is prepared to face any scenario that arises, emphasizing that the situation was more complicated a few years ago and expressing his confidence that the country will move forward.
Moreover, the Secretary of Economy referred to the renegotiation of the USMCA and Trump's change of stance regarding it. He mentioned that before his election, the former U.S. president considered the treaty detrimental to his country, but now acknowledges its success and the importance of the companies that rely on the Trade Agreement between Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
"We are calm about what we must do, and I believe that the strategy that the president has followed is correct, it has been careful, it has been firm," Ebrard added in his participation in the Assembly, highlighting the importance of maintaining a firm and determined stance in the trade relationship with the United States.
