Sheinbaum minimized the economic repercussions of these tariffs, highlighting that imports from Ecuador represent only 0.2% of total Mexican imports.
This tariff measure is set against a backdrop of commercial tensions among various nations on the continent. Noboa justified his decision by accusing an "abuse" in the commercial dynamics between Ecuador and Mexico, stating that his country is open to trade integration, but not when there is abuse.
