
The production of components for firearms at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has experienced an increase of 8,000% between 2000 and 2023, according to an economic report indicating that some of these components end up in the hands of drug trafficking groups. On the other hand, in the city of Puebla, two female mayors faced recent attacks.

These events occur within a framework where there is a warning about the risk of jeopardizing 350 billion pesos from the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit), generating claims from the Confederation of Employers of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) and various unions for not having been consulted.
In terms of security, it is highlighted that the United States has increased the production of silencers for firearms that subsequently reach organized crime, which relates to the persistent problem of violence in the region.
