
In January, companies in Nuevo León generated 14,866 job positions, consolidating the State as the main job generator at the national level. According to the Mexican Social Security Institute, Nuevo León contributed 20.3% of the jobs in the entire country. "In Nuevo León, we are a strong arm in job creation, we have been able to maintain that industrial and labor leadership," commented Emmanuel Loo from the Ministry of Economy.
Nuevo León surpassed job generation in states such as Sonora, Jalisco, Baja California, and Quintana Roo. At the national level, 73,167 new jobs were created last month, according to the IMSS. As of January 31, 2025, there were 22,311,546 registered jobs with the IMSS, of which 86.8% are permanent and 13.2% temporary.
The monthly variation in January was 73,167 positions, equivalent to a monthly rate of 0.3%. In the last 12 months, there was a growth of 178,139 job positions, with an annual rate of 0.8%. The economic sectors with the highest annual percentage growth in job positions were commerce (2.9%), transport and communications (2.6%), business services (2.0%), and electricity (2.0%).
Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Chiapas, and Nuevo León stand out as federal entities with annual increases exceeding 3.0%.
