A cyberattack in 2022 led Rockstar to eliminate remote work and require employees to return to the office five days a week, which was not well received by the staff. It has been mentioned that GTA 6 will feature a couple of playable characters inspired by Bonnie and Clyde, and the company has urged writers to be more careful in representing transgender people and other minorities.
Despite multiple missed deadlines in the past by Rockstar, Take-Two claims that this time there will be no delays. Several rival developers are waiting before setting their autumn release dates, given the high expectations surrounding GTA 6. The game will be set in a fictional version of Miami according to the trailer, which has garnered over 200 million views on YouTube.
Since the start of its development a decade ago, GTA 6 has evolved slowly, especially after the release of Red Dead Redemption II in 2018. The previous game in the franchise, GTA 5, has sold 205 million copies and is considered one of the most lucrative entertainment products of all time. GTA 6 is expected to continue this trend.
With a trailer released at the end of 2023, the parent company's stock rose by 30 percent, and the game is anticipated to become a financial success.
