In the third report of the 2023 public account audit, the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) revealed alleged irregularities amounting to 452,379,759 pesos in the agencies Mexican Food Security (Segalmex), Diconsa, and Liconsa during the sexennium of Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
According to the report, various anomalies have been detected in the processes of these agencies. In Diconsa, for example, excessive payments of 29.6 million pesos were found, as well as irregularities in the documentation related to grain transport services amounting to 17.7 million pesos.
In the case of Liconsa, payments totaling 35.2 million pesos were identified to suppliers who exceeded the maximum limit of cows in milking between January and August 2023, which excluded them from the guarantee price. Additionally, 8.8 million pesos were paid to individuals who could not prove the collection and transport of nearly 6,000 liters of fresh milk.
Payments for grain transport services to warehouses not specified in the contracts are also mentioned, as well as expenditures for fuel loading in vehicles that do not belong to the mentioned institution.
Regarding Segalmex, it was revealed that payments of 97.9 million pesos were made for the transport of corn, exceeding 35 tons per producer without authorization in the established operating rules.
These revelations represent one of the first challenges faced by the government of Claudia Sheinbaum after the orderly transition from the López Obrador administration. The review of public accounts has brought these possible irregularities to light, which now require investigation and clarification to ensure transparency and legality in the management of public resources.
