Daily Wage in Nuevo León Increases in January

The daily base salary for contributions in Nuevo León rose to 664.07 pesos in January, marking an increase of 2.82% compared to the end of 2023. Better educational levels are a key factor.


Daily Wage in Nuevo León Increases in January

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) reported that at the beginning of this year, the daily base salary for contributions in Nuevo León rose to 664.07 pesos, marking an increase of 2.82% compared to the end of the previous year, when it was at 645.58 pesos. This upward trend was reflected in both the daily wage of urban temporary workers and in permanent jobs.

The daily wage of urban temporary workers increased by 2.28% in January, reaching 602.78 pesos from 589.35 pesos in December. Meanwhile, the daily wage for permanent jobs was at 670.22 pesos, reflecting an increase of 2.93% compared to the end of the previous year, when it was 651.15 pesos.

In the case of temporary agricultural workers, the highest wage increase was recorded in January, reaching 347.16 pesos, representing an increase of 15.59% compared to the 300.33 pesos at the end of last year.

Industry experts attribute these wage improvements in Nuevo León to several factors, including the high educational levels of the local population. David Centeno, deputy director of strategic planning at OCC, mentioned that higher education levels and proficiency in a second language among residents of the region may influence wage increases.

Additionally, it is noted that wage differences between temporary and permanent workers may depend on factors such as the type of employment (full-time vs part-time) and employee seniority, according to the executive of the online job platform.

Regarding the gender division, women's wages in January were 609.82 pesos, showing an increase of 3.62%, while men's wages increased by 2.45%, rising from 678.61 pesos in December to 695.22 pesos in January.
