Nuevo Leon Prepares to Face US Tariffs

Governor Samuel García of Nuevo León stated that the state is prepared to face the tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration on Mexican products starting March 4. After a meeting with representatives of local business chambers, the governor expressed the entity's willingness to address this situation.

During the meeting, a beneficial agreement for Nuevo León was reached, which includes the implementation of tax incentives, tax reductions, and the simplification or elimination of procedures that hinder trade and the creation of companies. This package of measures began to be applied on March 4 with the aim of minimizing the impact of international measures on local businesses.

For his part, Miguel Ángel Flores, coordinator of the Legislative Group of Movimiento Ciudadano in Congress, criticized Trump's proposal to impose tariffs on Mexican products in the United States. He described the situation as "nonsensical" and pointed out that this measure would have a significant impact on the economy of both countries.

Next week, President Claudia Sheinbaum is expected to make an official statement about Trump's confirmation of the tariffs. Flores expressed skepticism regarding the long-term viability of this measure and highlighted that it could lead to a considerable increase in inflation in the United States.

In this context, the call for unity and collaboration between the public and private sectors is becoming increasingly relevant to confront the international decisions that affect Mexico and its trade relations with other countries.
