Increase in Job Positions in Nuevo León

In the third quarter of the previous year, Nuevo León saw a significant increase in paid job positions, totaling 2 million 415 thousand 891, marking a 3.9% growth compared to 2023. This growth contributes substantially to the national employment rate increase, with notable improvement in salaries, particularly in the service sector.


Increase in Job Positions in Nuevo León

During the third quarter of last year, paid jobs in Nuevo León totaled two million 415 thousand 891, representing an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2023. This places the state among the entities with the highest increase in the country.

The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) reported that at the national level, a total of 39.3 million paid jobs were recorded in the same quarter, reflecting a 0.9% increase in annual terms.

Regarding the largest percentage increases in paid jobs at the state level, Zacatecas stands out with 6.6%, Durango with 5.2%, Chiapas with 4.5%, Nuevo León with 3.9%, and Oaxaca with 3.3%.

Nuevo León was the second entity that contributed the most to national growth with 0.23 percentage points, surpassed only by Mexico City with 0.25 percentage points.

Regarding wages for employees, Nuevo León experienced a 10.4% increase in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. At the national level, employee wages grew by 7.8% annually.

In the third quarter of last year, Nuevo León recorded wages totaling 651 thousand 10 million pesos, representing an increase of 5.95% compared to the previous quarter.

In terms of the distribution of paid jobs by sector in Nuevo León, the services sector employed one million 545 thousand 827 people, showing an annual increase of 3.94%. The secondary sector recorded 843 thousand 857 jobs, with an increase of 3.91% compared to the previous year. On the other hand, primary activities generated 26 thousand 207 paid positions, representing an annual increase of 1.71%.

In summary, the participation of tertiary activities in paid jobs in Nuevo León in the third quarter of last year was 63.97%, secondary activities were 34.93%, and primary activities were only 1.11%.
