Jalisco Launches Energy Efficiency Program

A new Energy Efficiency Program in Jalisco aims to reduce energy consumption by 10%, saving around 200 million pesos annually and mitigating CO2 emissions.

Jalisco Launches Energy Efficiency Program

The Secretary of Sustainable Energy Development (SEDES), Manuel Herrera Vega, presented the Energy Efficiency Program for the State of Jalisco and its Municipalities in the framework of RE+Ecomondo Mexico, an important renewable energy event in Latin America. This initiative aims to reduce energy consumption, optimize costs, and promote the use of clean energy in the public and private sectors.

According to Herrera Vega, the program focuses on strategies related to energy savings, cost reduction, and greater adoption of renewable energies. The goal is to reduce energy consumption in the state by 10%, which would imply a savings of 200 million pesos annually. These funds could be allocated to energy justice programs to combat poverty in this area in Jalisco.

The program includes various key actions, such as energy audits, modernization of pumping equipment, promotion of distributed generation and electromobility, as well as the implementation of energy efficiency regulations for municipalities. It also includes real-time monitoring of electrical consumption, installation of charging infrastructure for electromobility, and the adoption of efficient technologies in public buildings.

Another important measure planned is the creation of a catalog of certified providers in energy solutions to facilitate the transition to a more sustainable model. With this plan, the aim is to support technological development and energy transition in Jalisco, with the goal of making the state an investment oasis.

The General Strategic Coordinator of Growth and Economic Development, Mauro Garza Marín, highlighted that Jalisco is on track to consolidate itself as a national investment attraction hub, thanks to the work done in implementing this program. Garza Marín emphasized confidence in the state as a destination for investments, stressing the support of Governor Pablo Lemus.

In Jalisco, 450 thousand users from the commercial and industrial sectors are energy consumers, and 64% of the total consumption comes from the industrial sector. The effective implementation of this energy efficiency program could mean substantial savings for the state and a boost for sustainable development in the region.
