The business sector in Mexico has expressed its support for President Claudia Sheinbaum in the bilateral negotiations with the United States, following the activation of a 25% tariff on Mexican goods. In a meeting at the National Palace, 40 business leaders backed the government and showed unity in this context.
"We will be very attentive to the events of the coming days and committed to the Mexico Plan, betting on national companies," noted Altagracia Gómez, coordinator of the Economic Development Advisory Council of the Presidency. The president of the Business Coordinating Council, Francisco Cervantes, highlighted the importance of working together to develop measures that strengthen the national market.
In a call with President Trump, Sheinbaum has maintained good communication and another conversation is expected. The Government and business leaders have announced collaboration in the Labor Integration Program for Repatriated Mexicans, and around 300 representatives from the private sector will attend an informational assembly called by Sheinbaum to learn about the measures that will be taken in response to the tariffs imposed by Trump.
The president of the CCE noted that the president is considering the opinions of the business sector and betting on communication to achieve progress in the bilateral negotiations. In a meeting with more than 70 companies, key issues to be addressed in the phone conversation between Sheinbaum and Trump were discussed.
