Around 40 companies that are part of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE) rallied behind President Claudia Sheinbaum and committed to forming a "common front" to accelerate the Mexico Plan, aiming to strengthen the national market in light of the United States' decision to impose a 25 percent tariff on Mexican products.

President Claudia Sheinbaum held a closed-door meeting with a group of entrepreneurs led by the president of the CCE, Francisco Cervantes, as well as the coordinator of the Regional Economic Development Advisory Council (CADERR), Altagracia Gómez. After the meeting, the leader of the private sector umbrella organization stated that the Mexico Plan "will help a lot" for Mexican companies to increase domestic content.

"We are forming a common front with the president, supporting her, to advance this negotiation. She has had very good communication directly with President Trump," Cervantes said. The automotive sector is one of the most important among all industrial sectors, mainly Mexico, which is the sixth largest vehicle exporter.

Along the same lines, the president of the CCE expressed that there is "concern" among company executives regarding the U.S. decision to impose tariffs on Mexico. Accompanied by the presidents of the Mexican Banking Association, Julio Carranza Bolívar, and the National Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism of Mexico City, José de Jesús Rodríguez Cárdenas, as well as Antonio del Valle Perochena, president of Grupo Kaluz, among others, Cervantes announced that he will be present at the rally called by the president in the Zócalo on Sunday, which will be attended by around 300 business leaders.

Meanwhile, Altagracia Gómez highlighted the business sector's commitment to accelerate the implementation of the Mexico Plan, which aims to move from the 12th largest economy to the 10th in the world and increase national content by 15 percent. The president of CADERR emphasized: "We are all ready and united to work together to accelerate the Mexico Plan, to continue strengthening the national market."

Present at the meeting were the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard; the Secretary of Finance, Rogelio Ramírez de la O; the Secretary of Energy, Luz Elena González; the head of Agriculture, Julio Berdegué; and the Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente. According to Leticia Hernández, a call is expected on Thursday to continue discussing this fundamental issue for the business sector and the Mexican economy.
