Women's Empowerment and Economic Growth in Mexico

The Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) highlights the importance of promoting women's freedom and strengthening businesses, considering that both can be key allies for progress. In a context where informality and lack of access to financing and professional mentoring represent significant barriers for businesses in Mexico, overcoming these obstacles not only boosts the national economy but also contributes to commemorating the women's struggle.

According to studies conducted, facilitating access to credit and support and mentoring networks has generated a 116 percent increase in the well-being of women entrepreneurs, along with a 3 percent increase in the well-being of workers and nearly a 4 percent growth in overall production. This boost to entrepreneurship is seen as a neutral and powerful solution to promote gender equality in the business sector.

Organizations such as Coparmex focus on promoting free enterprise as a way to enhance women's emancipation, emphasizing that strong companies led by women contribute to building just and prosperous societies. Furthermore, the importance of addressing parity in domestic work is highlighted as a fundamental part of economic policies aimed at women's empowerment.

Recent research shows the need to reduce the barriers that women face when starting businesses, stressing the positive impact this can have on well-being and productivity. These data support the idea that promoting gender equity and facilitating women's access to the business sphere is not only the right thing to do from a social perspective but also proves to be a profitable investment in economic terms.

In this regard, it is noted that the growth in the number of small and medium-sized enterprises led by women has seen a significant increase in recent years. Data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) reveals a 183 percent growth in the number of SMEs led by women from 2021 to 2023, reflecting a significant advance in the economic empowerment of women in the business sector.
