The government of Nuevo León has presented a package of more than 40 proposals aimed at addressing the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. Governor Samuel García Sepúlveda emphasized that this package includes actions that could be maintained permanently, regardless of whether the tariffs are avoided or not. He also highlighted the calm and intelligent actions of President Claudia Sheinbaum in negotiations with the United States.
In his statements, García Sepúlveda stressed the importance of eliminating tariffs on the automotive and agricultural sectors, as Nuevo León, being the main exporter, would greatly benefit. The governor praised Sheinbaum's management of the situation and pointed out that the state would not suffer impacts on 51% of its exports due to the White House's decision not to impose tariffs on T-MEC products.
Furthermore, García expressed his support for the Mexican president's strategy and announced his participation alongside her at an event in the Zócalo of Mexico City. He noted that so far no notifications have been received from companies planning to close or reduce investments in Nuevo León.
Regarding the labor landscape, the governor mentioned the positive increase in jobs in the region and emphasized that the elimination of tariffs would benefit the state by 50%. Collaboration with other leaders, both from the same party and the opposition, has also been highlighted as an important factor in ensuring economic stability in Nuevo León.
