In a joint operation between authorities from Mexico and the United States, more than a ton of liquid methamphetamine was seized at the Roma International Bridge, located between Ciudad Miguel Alemán, Tamaulipas, and Roma, Texas. This seizure represents an economic blow to organized crime, with an estimated market value of 302.9 million pesos.

Currently, this program operates at 14 of the 44 international bridges and at two of the six railway crossings on the northern border. The operation involved elements from the Secretariat of National Defense, the Navy, the Attorney General of the Republic, the National Guard, and the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection, in coordination with CBP.

The driver of the vehicle was detained and made available to U.S. authorities, along with the seized merchandise. The discovery was made during a routine inspection of a tractor-trailer transporting agricultural products such as peppers, potatoes, onions, and bottles of mineral water.

In the analysis with specialized equipment from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), it was confirmed that the liquid contained in 1,632 bottles labeled as mineral water from the brand 'Topo Chico' was methamphetamine, with an estimated weight of 1,028.98 kilos. This operation was carried out under the Joint Customs scheme, a bilateral cooperation program that allows for the simultaneous inspection of goods by authorities from both countries in one location.
