The Tax Administration Service (SAT) reported a historic collection of 948 billion 983 million pesos in the first two months of 2025, representing a 9.1% increase in real terms compared to the same period in 2024. This result indicates that the tax strategy implemented to combat evasion is having an effect.
The increase in collection is attributed to the SAT's Master Plan 2025, which focuses on three fundamental aspects: taxpayer support to facilitate compliance with obligations, support for compliant taxpayers with incentives and facilities, and aggressive auditing against tax evasion and smuggling. Rigorous supervision of large taxpayers and the digitization of tax processes have helped detect inconsistencies and increase revenue collection.
Regarding taxes, the Income Tax (ISR) contributed 508 billion 432 million pesos, with a growth of 6.7%, while the Value Added Tax (IVA) recorded 281 billion 193 million pesos, reflecting an increase of 17.9%. Meanwhile, the Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS) reached 119 billion 311 million pesos.
The revenue obtained has surpassed the projected target by 3.7% in the Federal Income Law for February 2025, indicating that, despite previous growth estimates from the SAT, the final figure has exceeded expectations. This reinforces the idea that auditing will be even stricter throughout the year.
