The Secretary of Economy of Mexico declared that they are preparing to utilize all available resources for the benefit of the country, awaiting the decision to be made by the President of the United States on April 2. Meanwhile, President Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that no one benefits from a tariff war and that these measures will harm both nations.
"So that later we can, depending on what the government of the United States announces, take other measures to defend or try to achieve a review of those steel tariffs," Sheinbaum stated. Marcelo Ebrard added that the Mexican government is preparing strategies to face any eventuality on April 2 and that the response will be given calmly and with determination.
The Secretary of Economy mentioned that they are consulting with the steel and aluminum sector, affected by the tariffs imposed by Trump, to make the most appropriate decision in this context. In this regard, he stated that various options are being evaluated, but no hasty actions will be taken.
