Innovative Approaches to Higher Education in Mexico

The UNIVDEP Business School launches to address educational dropouts and improve career prospects for students by integrating AI training into its programs.

Innovative Approaches to Higher Education in Mexico

The Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) presented the results of its study "Compara Carreras 2024", highlighting that individuals with a bachelor's degree earn on average 81% more than those with only a high school diploma and have double the chances of accessing formal employment. Despite these advantages, there remains a high dropout rate among young people transitioning to higher education in Mexico.

The causes of this dropout are diverse and include economic difficulties, lack of family support, emotional problems, and shortcomings in academic preparation. In the face of this issue, educational institutions face the challenge of updating their teaching models to adapt to the realities and aspirations of new generations.

In this context, the University of Business and Pedagogical Development (UNIVDEP) has launched the UNIVDEP Business School (UBS), a new learning ecosystem that incorporates training in artificial intelligence into all its undergraduate programs. Mexico is facing a critical situation regarding access and retention of students in higher education, ranking last among OECD member countries in terms of enrollment at this educational level.

The National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES) reported a dropout rate of 8.1% in the 2023-2024 school year at the upper secondary level, highlighting a persistent problem that prevents thousands of young people from progressing to a bachelor's degree, directly affecting their professional development.

The rector of UNIVDEP Business School, María Esther Núñez Cebrero, stated: "UNIVDEP Business School is born to support new leaders on that path." This new educational approach is backed by TOGIVE Digital Innovation Lab, an international platform that promotes digital literacy and organizational transformation through emerging technologies.

UBS students not only acquire knowledge in the classroom, but also face real challenges, develop impactful projects, and build purposeful professional trajectories. Student preparation focuses on providing them with the necessary skills to lead in a world that demands vision, experience, adaptability, and concrete tools to make a positive impact.
