Mexico's SAT Achieves Greater Efficiency in Tax Collection

Mexico's Tax Administration Service (SAT) has proven that tax collection can be not only cheaper but also more effective. In 2025, thanks to the efficient use of public resources, SAT managed to reduce the cost of tax collection to its lowest level in eight years. Now, it costs only 25 cents to collect every 100 pesos, down from 28 cents in the previous year. At the same time, the effectiveness of audits has been demonstrated. For every peso invested in oversight and review, the SAT recovered 248 pesos. These outstanding results were achieved within the framework of the SAT's Master Plan, which aligns with the government's policies on fiscal discipline. The efficient management of resources contributed to a historic record in tax revenues, reaching 5 trillion 351 billion 680 million pesos, a real increase of 4% compared to 2024. Thus, the policy of fiscal discipline and efficient budget use is combined with actions aimed at changing the country's tax culture, where voluntary compliance is the main goal for continuing to strengthen collection for the benefit of the nation.
