The Mexican state of Guanajuato recorded an economic turnover of over 57 billion pesos in 2025, representing a 10% increase from the previous year, reported the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León, during her appearance before the State Congress. This growth confirms tourism as one of the main economic engines of the entity, with a direct impact on employment, services, and the attraction of visitors. One of the key indicators for the sector is the perception of safety: 95.4% of surveyed visitors stated they feel safe in Guanajuato, both during their stay and at tourist events. The official explained that this result is supported by coordination with the Secretary of Security and Peace, as well as the state's CONFÍA strategy, which links authorities and tourism service providers. The tourism sector maintains a significant weight in state employment. In the fourth quarter of the year, more than 209,000 people work in tourism, 64% of whom are women. Furthermore, Guanajuato ranks eighth nationally in tourism employment, consolidating its relevance in this sector. During 2025, 3,445 tourism service providers in the 46 municipalities benefited from an investment of over 4 million pesos. Of this total, 1,854 were women and 1,591 men, participating in programs focused on service quality and crime prevention. Connectivity and events are pillars of growth. The state maintains its positioning strategy through connectivity and events. It currently has 10 national and 12 international routes, with new connections in development, such as the route to Madrid planned for 2027. It also promotes the capture of congresses, conventions, and large-scale events as part of the strategy to strengthen the state's tourism image. Guanajuato grows in tourism with record-breaking economic impact and a high perception of safety, while betting on connectivity and events to sustain its momentum in the coming years.
