150 personnel are participating in the firefighting efforts. Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo acknowledged that the refinery 'produces a lot of coke', a residue from the processing of heavy crude that is in demand by the cement industry and for fertilizer production. 'The coke is stored in an area of the refinery, where it is stored, the one that was coming out of the coker, the first coke warehouse is where this fire is occurring,' she explained. On the commercial front, Pemex exports more coke and other by-products, but with lower revenues compared to fuels such as diesel or fuel oil. We will continue to report.
