The amount of the Bienestar Pension for senior citizens could increase in 2025, although this increase is not expected to exceed inflation levels. According to reports, if the same percentage is maintained, the pension for next year would be up to 7,500 pesos bimonthly. This represents an increase from the 6,000 pesos bimonthly that were granted during the last months of 2024.
The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, mentioned in the 'morning' conference on Monday that deposits will begin on the same Monday and will continue in the following days in alphabetical order. It is expected that the increase in this support will be announced by the Secretary of Welfare before the year ends or in early January, including the dates for the first payments of 2025.
The requirements to be a beneficiary of the Bienestar Pension include being 65 years old, being a Mexican citizen by birth, presenting a birth certificate, carrying an official identification, presenting the CURP (Unique Population Registry Code), and a proof of address, as well as filling out a unique welfare form. Since 2019, the amount of this pension has progressively increased as part of a program promoted by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
In 2024, the pension had a 25% increase, rising from 4,800 to 6,000 pesos bimonthly. Although no official announcement has been made regarding when and how much the increase for 2025 will be, the Bienestar Pension has become one of the government’s priority programs, reflecting the commitment to improve the living conditions of older adults in Mexico.
Next Monday, November 4, the payment schedule for older adults receiving the Bienestar Pension for the November-December bimonthly period will be published. This announcement will be crucial for beneficiaries who depend on this pension to meet their basic needs. Uncertainty remains regarding whether there will be an increase in the pension amount for the following year, but it is expected that the Secretary of Welfare will soon make the relevant announcements.
