Discount for Students on Mexibús Fares

The government of the State of Mexico announced that starting Monday, November 11, students from public schools will enjoy a 30 percent discount on the fare of the two Mexibús lines that operate in the area. The initiative aims to facilitate student mobility and save them costs on their daily commute.

To access the discount, students must go to any of the five modules located in the mass transportation facilities, where they will be electronically registered and receive their personal and non-transferable Movimex card. The card, which costs 10 pesos, is specifically designed for student use and contains serial numbers for identification.

At an event attended by the Secretary of Education, Mario Delgado, and Governor Delfina Gomez Alvarez, it was highlighted that currently more than 5,000 students use public transportation, and this number is expected to increase with the implementation of the discount. Daniel Sibaja González, head of the Secretary of Mobility (Semovi), detailed the process for obtaining the card.

According to Sibaja González, students interested in obtaining the discount must show proof that they are enrolled in a public school in the State of Mexico. Once the required documentation is presented, students are quickly registered and the Movimex card is issued to begin enjoying the reduced fare.

Currently, the fare for the two lines of the Cablebús operating in Ecatepec, Tlalnepantla, and the borders of the Gustavo A. Madero municipality is nine pesos. With the Movimex card, registered students will only pay six pesos to use any of these lines. The Secretary also reminded that for the past two months, individuals in vulnerable situations have been exempt from paying for public transportation, including the Mexibús and the Cablebús.
