Important Announcement for Mexican Workers and Students

The anniversary of the Mexican Revolution is an important date in Mexico and is celebrated on November 20. However, to allow for a long weekend, the day off will be moved to the nearest Monday, in this case, November 18. It is the last official holiday before the festivities of December.

According to the Federal Labor Law, mandatory days off must be paid in full, even if workers do not attend work. Those employees who work on a mandatory day off are entitled to special compensation, which is set at double pay if the work is voluntary and agreed upon with the employer, meaning a triple payment for working on this date.

For example, if a worker receives $500 per day and works on a holiday, such as October 1 in this case, they should receive a total of $1,500: $500 for their usual daily wage and an additional $1,000 as compensation for working on a holiday.
