In recent hours, a video has gone viral showing how elements of the Banking and Industrial Police arrested a man accused of carrying a weapon at the Pantitlán station of the Mexico City Metro, an incident disseminated through social media.
According to reporter Jorge Becerril, a tweet states: "They were armed on the Metro of Mexico City, agents of the Banking and Industrial Police arrested them." After the images were circulated, the official account of the Mexico City Metro confirmed that three people were arrested, one of whom had a firearm, which was shown to have a legal carry permit. The events took place at the entrance of the Pantitlán station.
In a statement issued by the STCM, it was detailed that the situation occurred at the entrance to Line 1 of the Collective Transportation System (STC) Metro, when agents requested a man to allow free passage for users. After controlling the situation, a search was conducted, revealing that one of the detainees, an employee of a private security company, was carrying a firearm with a permit.
"Due to the preceding events, the three men were informed of their constitutional rights and were placed at the disposal of the Civic Judge who will determine the corresponding sanction," concluded the Metro. It is worth mentioning that the Mexico City Metro is the most used means of transportation in the country, with millions of people using it daily to travel through the capital and the State of Mexico, maintaining security with constant surveillance by the authorities of the Citizen Security Secretariat.
