The calendar for this year 2025 includes several important rest and holiday dates for both students and workers in Mexico. According to the School Calendar of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), the Easter holidays will begin on Monday, April 14, and will last for two weeks, ending on Friday, April 25. During this period, students and many companies will take the opportunity to participate in religious events and enjoy family outings, returning to classes on Monday, April 28.
On the other hand, the Federal Labor Law establishes mandatory rest days for Mexican workers. Some of the specified dates for this year are January 1, the first Monday of February in commemoration of February 5, the third Monday of March for March 21, May 1, September 16, the third Monday of November for November 20, and December 1.
The law states that workers are not obliged to work on their rest days. In case work is required on those days, the employer must pay the worker double the corresponding salary for the service rendered, according to Article 73. It is important to emphasize that these provisions are applied to ensure respect for rest and the workers' right to enjoy their free time.
