The singer, whose passing occurred on February 17 at the age of 77, was remembered with an emotional tribute by her fans, family, and friends in various locations in the Mexican capital.
From early hours, hundreds of people gathered outside the J. García López Casa Prim funeral home, where the artist's remains were displayed. The atmosphere was filled with the music of mariachi that always accompanied her, mixing feelings of joy and melancholy in the streets.
The funeral procession made a stop in Garibaldi, an iconic place for mariachi music in Mexico and witness to the beginnings and dreams of Paquita la del Barrio. There, an altar was prepared with flowers, photos, and personal items of the singer, amidst an environment filled with emotion.
During the mass in tribute to the performer, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega and Sandra Cuevas were in the same place and shared moments with Paquita's family. The personalities expressed words of recognition toward the artist, highlighting her legacy in the borough and her impact on ranchera music.
A replica of a Cadillac hearse, adorned with flowers and photographs of Paquita, carried her ashes on a journey that recalled the most significant places of her life and career. The procession, which crossed Paseo de la Reforma, one of the most iconic avenues in the city, was met by the artist's followers with applause, songs, and chants, singing themes like "Rata de dos patas" and "Cheque en blanco," which have become anthems of her music.
