Jalisco's License Plate Replacement Process in 2025

In Jalisco, the vehicle re-registration process continues as part of a program to identify automobiles in the region. Those who drive with old license plates could face fines or the immobilization of their vehicle, making it essential to make the change within the established deadlines.

The re-registration is carried out in phases, and in the last week of February, it corresponds to vehicles whose registration ends with the number 1. Owners can go to the authorized collection centers to carry out this mandatory procedure. To facilitate the process, the Government of Jalisco has implemented the "3x1 Package," which for a cost of $900 pesos includes vehicle inspection services, license plate replacement, and vehicle renewal.

To change license plates in Jalisco in 2025, certain steps must be followed. First, the vehicle renewal fee must be paid through the corresponding portal. Then, the vehicle inspection is scheduled, followed by the appointment for the license plate change. Among the necessary documentation, a bill or certified copy of the vehicle, the circulation plates, a recent proof of address, official identification, the vehicle inspection proof, and the payment of the renewal fee are required.

Starting in 2026, all vehicles in Jalisco must have the new plates designated as "Collage" or "Cabañas," which feature a QR code in the upper right corner. The old plates with the designs "Maguey," "Minerva," and "Gota" will no longer be valid for that year. It is important to follow the corresponding guidelines to avoid penalties and comply with current regulations.
