Theater 'Cloud Snot' Explores Children's Realities

A group of girls presents the play "Mucos de Nube" at the Teatro Santa Catarina on March 21, 22, and 23. The play, directed by Sara Pinedo from the Community Art Collective “Lxs de Abajo,” aims to address children's curiosity and imagination in contrast to adult world problems.

The young protagonists, Sol, Fer, and Danna, portray Kenny, Bente, and Layla in a story that reflects childhood in difficult environments marked by uncertainty and worries. Inspired by a play by the German playwright Vera Schindler, "Mucos de Nube" advocates for children's right to a decent home and an education free from violence.

Through this staging, the girls seek not to conform to their reality but to transform it through struggle, resistance, and imagination. The play highlights how children face their problems and how imagination can help us visualize a better world, where a safe and comfortable home ceases to be a dream for many.

The play originated from a series of dramatized readings called Theaterwelt in 2022 and seeks to invite reflection and awareness about a society more committed to the education and protection of childhood. Through fluorescent painting, movements, and punk music, these young artists bring to life a stage that symbolizes the struggle for a stable home in an uncertain world where many children lack security and happiness.
