Street Closures in Iztapalapa During Holy Week

The Iztapalapa mayor's office has communicated which streets will be closed on April 17, Holy Thursday, due to the commemorations of Holy Week. More than 100 intersections will remain closed from Thursday and throughout Good Friday, during the performance of the Via Crucis related to the Passion of Christ. Authorities have recommended that the population take precautions and be attentive to the possible crowds expected in the coming days in Iztapalapa.

The crossings with the main closed roads include Eje 6 Sur. Additionally, it has been announced that from April 17 to 19, there will be a prohibition on the sale of alcoholic beverages in public spaces, known as Dry Law. This measure has been taken considering the customs, traditions, and religious practices of the indigenous peoples, as well as a preventive measure against violence. Furthermore, the use of firearms and fireworks is prohibited during this celebration.

The crossings with the affected roads include Felipe de Jesús, Luis Covarrubias Ibarra, José de Jesús Villa Padierna, Eusebio Guajardo, Andrés Tutino, Concepción Álvarez, Rafael García Moreno, José Guadalupe Gómez, Rojo Gómez, Estrella, E. Corona, Mendizabal, Orozco, Julio de la Fuente, Los Reyes, General Anaya, and Toltecas, among others. The road closures mentioned will begin at noon and extend until 1:00 the next day, although it has not yet been confirmed whether the schedule will be the same for Good Friday.
