This week on the coast of San Benito, in the municipality of Dzemul, Yucatán, a curious incident occurred that combined high technology and the harsh reality of Mexican beaches. A foreign tourist became stranded aboard an impressive Tesla Cybertruck in a turtle nesting protection zone.
The Cybertruck, valued at over two million Mexican pesos, got stuck in the sand of San Benito beach in Dzemul. Despite its characteristics of durability and power, the vehicle could not cope with the loose sand of the Yucatecan coastline, becoming completely trapped.
Videos shared on social media showed local residents and State Police efforts uniting to push the truck and help the driver out of the predicament. The situation drew attention not only due to the type of vehicle involved but also because it took place on a beach where the circulation of motorized vehicles is prohibited.
Tesla's Cybertruck, particularly the Cyberbeast model, is known to be the ideal vehicle for extreme adventures. However, nature showed it had other plans by leaving this luxury vehicle stuck in a protected turtle beach. So far, there has been no report on whether the driver will face any penalties for driving in this prohibited area.
The incident not only sparked comments about the contrast between the luxury of the vehicle and the simplicity of the rescue but also raised environmental alarms. San Benito beach is an important nesting site for several species of turtles, so vehicle traffic poses a danger to the nests, especially during the breeding season.
